My Week at a Glance – 21/06/2015

A week when I started in a melancholy mood and thankfully ended up at the other end of the emotional spectrum.  I attended by brother-in-law’s funeral on Monday.  Seeing so many people turn out for the occasion was a real comfort to my sister.  Seeing my niece and nephew grieve for their dad also brought home more than ever how important the role of a parent is.  You only know the value of a person when they are gone, and quite clearly he was adored by them.  That evening despite being washed out from the day’s events, Harry got more of my attention and cuddles than usual.  Today will be another tough day for them.

Family Fun

The following day everyone came to mine.  Last year H inherited a pull along cart that used to belong to the twins.  Al was sick of seeing it taking space up in their shed so thought we could have the pleasure of finding a home for it instead.  From the look of the photo I am not sure they were quite ready to give it up.Harry was in hysterics watching me screaming with a mixture of delight and fear as my nephew pulled me around at full pelt.

H received an early tractorbirthday present from one of my very close friends and I think from his reaction that he was rather pleased with it.  His dad moaned about their being yet more plastic c*&p to tidy away, and that he wouldn’t have minded so much if it could actually cut the garden!  I thought it amusing and didn’t dare tell him I had suggested it.

Dance Floor Blues
Everyone at this party doesn’t know how to have a good time

On Saturday we went to party next door and our little cheeky monkey was first on the dance floor, leading the bend at the knees and bounce dance.  Although when no-one joined in he took it a little personally for a couple of minutes before running around the garden for a few hours chasing a balloon.   It was his latest night out with us all eventually collapsing in bed at 9. A real treat for him but a nightmare for me  today trying to keep a very tired boy going in his normal routine.  The minute he goes for his afternoon nap I will be taking the advice of the well-intentioned parenting books and going for mine too!

Getting sweaty and having fun

He wasn’t bothered with the sweets, he just saw the opportunity of a new hat!

Have a good week everyone.
