I love the zoo. Monkeys, primates, chimps, whatever it is you want to call them, I just love anything that can nonchalantly scratch its own bare bum whilst swinging through the trees. My favourite stop-off is the chimpanzee enclosure. Co-incidentally it is also my son’s favourite.
He can be fast asleep in the buggy and then spring to life the moment we enter the chimp house. He squeals with excitement, bangs the windows and just generally shows everyone else in there how close he resembles the objects of his delight. It is priceless to see his face light up and for him to share my fascination. Well it’s not exactly priceless as we have forked out for an annual family pass but you get my general point.
However, why do I always giggle and announce excitedly the naughty things they get up to? “Look it is having a poo”, “oh my god it’s got its widgy out”, “yuck it has eaten its own poo”, “it’s having a good scratch of that one’s bum” etc etc. On our last visit one was getting very amorous with another one. To my husbands embarrassment I couldn’t contain myself. I shall spare you the details but needless to say I have no filter.
At what point am I going to stop this lifelong habit and react in an adult manner to their antics? My guess is that I have about another 12 months before I hear Harry say the words “why is he doing that Mummy”. I hope to god I am sorted by then. The clock is ticking!

Haha! So glad it’s not just me then 😉 I’ve totally given up having an internal monologue in situations such as these!
My ex boyfriend used to be mortally embarrassed by me. Good job, then, that I traded him in for my amazing husband. We’ve been together for nearly 20 years so I reckon he doesn’t mind my childish outbursts!! 😉 Thanks so much for linking up with #TwinklyTuesday x

Oh I love this! I tend to do that sometimes too…I look at it as if I am the one telling them about those things I know what they are learning. I am sure they hear those things sooner or later at school. #mummy&us

On holiday for the next two weeks with limited wi-fi or mobile access. See you when I get back xx
hahaha you sound a bit like me. I don’t really have a filter on these things either and am also trying to get it all together. I don’t think I’ve quite grasped that I have to be an adult yet. Put it this way, for my next milestone birthday (30 🙁 ) I’d rather hire out a big soft play area overnight for some fun with friends, rather than a swanky meal somewhere. A child forever I think. I’m glad you have fun at the zoo xx #KCACOLS
