My Week at a Glance – Week 2

If I am honest (which as my name suggests I normally am) then this week didn’t start off too well.  I found myself in A&E on Monday with my husband amongst the unwashed and unhealthy.  Although I must admit that NO-ONE looked particularly ill, neither involved in accident nor appearing to be an emergency.  Most just looked like they had nothing better to do as they scoffed down their pasties and energy drinks as if out for a picnic with the family.

Anyhow let’s move on.  Hubby ended up being admitted overnight and kept under observation with a raging temperature and a kidney infection.  After an extremely scary – and long – day all I wanted was to see my little cheeky monkey.  Unfortunately for me he had already been put down to bed.  I suppressed my urge to pick him up for a cuddle believing that his need for an uninterrupted night’s sleep was greater than mine.

The following evening I knew hubby was back to himself when he was criticising me for what I had packed in his hospital bag (who needs face wash when they are in hospital for god’s sake, and so what if it was his daughters toothbrush so long as it worked) and whinging about how warm it was on the ward.  This only meant one thing; he was coming home the day after.  He had convinced them he was well enough and they must have got fed up of his moaning needed the bed as well.

So I have done my bit this week and I am exhausted.  I have been a stand in ambulance driver – who knew a Micra could do 95mph and take roundabouts on one wheel – a hospital porter, a personal assistant, a carer and last but not least a mummy.  It has been a tiring week.  So like any good mother and caring wife I have opened the wine.  So much for my “no-drinking in the week” ban that I imposed on myself only that Monday.  Still, there is always next week.  What’s that you say?….I am going on holiday next week….oh yes, well the Monday after that then!

Have a great week everyone.

Love

Harry’s Honest Mummy x
