H’s birthday is coming up soon and so I asked Hubby to take our child for a hair cut. “Just a trim”, I said, “so that he doesn’t look scruffy on his photos”. On Tuesday morning he left the house as my little long-haired baby boy and he came back that afternoon as a grown up! I know Hubby wasn’t happy that I had given him a task to complete on his day off, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he didn’t mean to break my heart with any malicious intent. I was told that H was lucky to be returned with any ears left because of the amount of wriggling he did trying to fight the hairdresser off. Apparently his face was a mixture of snot, tears, hair and white chocolate buttons. I too shed some tears that evening but (pardon the pun) the new look has grown on me now.
With the haircut has come a massive shift in attitude. Everything is now “No Mummy”. He doesn’t know what he wants, all he knows is that he wants it now. Constant whingeing. Thinking up ways to distract him I even made him a set of drums from pots and pans as that was easier on the ears than the noise he was making. Desperate times!
In a last minute attempt to relax we packed the caravan up and nipped down to the coast after work on Friday. We spent a lovely long weekend in Anglesey. No Wi-Fi, no phone reception and no sunshine. But despite that we had a great time. We enjoyed it that much that we have secured ourselves a caravan pitch for the rest of the season in a lovely little site where H can run around getting sweaty and entertaining the retired couples, and I can sit drinking wine from a plastic beaker whilst keeping my eye on him. Heaven.
Have a good week everyone

oh he looks lovely!! and your so lucky to be able to escape to the caravan. It’s always more relaxing when they can run round like loonies and your not having to worry and jump up every 5 seconds. Have a great weekend #HappyDays

That’s the best bit about camping. There are always other children to play with and grass to run around on. Perfect combination for a shattered and happy child = a good night’s sleep for everyone. 😊

Hair cuts are always an emotional event in our house.. Even my 12 year old seems to age just at the sight of a pair of scissors!! #happydays

Ah he looks cute, the poor hairdresser I hate cutting children’s hair I actually find it traumatic, when my two were toddlers I used to put them in from of the tv with an ice lolly that kept them still for a while but in the salon it can be a nightmare as they just don’t keep still bless them, x

A haircut makes such a huge difference I think. As you said in attitude as well as looks. And I love a caravan #myweekataglance xx

There is just something about a caravan isn’t there. It’s a wendy-house for grown-ups. I love working out how I am going to arrange all the stuff in the cupboards. Is that sad?

Aaaah caravans!!! HOW I love them We bought ours 5 years ago — she’s called Dolly and has been on SO many adventures with us! However, when we bought her, we were 2. Had no idea that we would become a family of 4 overnight — so her 2 berth status has just been chipped in for a 4 berth. A NEW (old) van for us to put our stamp on and have some more lovely adventures!! SO exciting!!!
Thanks so much for linking up with #TwinklyTuesday — hope to see you again next week! x

We had one pre-baby with a really comfy fixed double. We now have a new (old) one with fixed bunks instead and we rearrange the table and sofa to make our bed. Oh how things change!

Yes, Ieuan was much the same. It’s as if as soon as the baby hair comes off they think “aha, I’m growing up”. Wish we had a caravan to escape in too. That’d be brill. #TwinklyTuesday
