The God’s worked in our favour this week. Hubby’s rest days fell on a weekend, everyone had recovered from the flu, AND the skies were clear. Thankfully we were up early to take full advantage of it. We needed to blow the cobwebs off and so we donned our coats and hats, and set off to feed the ducks. From experience we know that the ducks by us are a bit fussy when it comes to bread, so we stopped off to buy some soft white rolls.
Harry insisted on holding on to his own bread roll. We explained to him that you had to rip off little bits but it took him a while to grab that concept. Lobbing large bread rolls at the ducks in an attempt to lure them over does not play out too well! Luckily we were able to intercept the boulders of bread before they crash landed in the water.
Harry enjoys going to the pond as he loves being so close to animals (any animals). I enjoy visiting the pond as it allows me to check up on a goose that lives there. He suffers with a condition called angel-wing which means he is unable to migrate in the winter. If you look closely at my picture you will see that he has no feathers on the end of his wings. They just look like sticks. I feel so sorry for him because when the other geese return to the pond they shun him. I always make sure he gets the lions share of whatever we have.
After feeding the ducks we stopped off for some food and a hot drink. With the fresh air in our lungs and a bacon butty in our bellies it was then back home to snuggle on the sofa and have an afternoon nap. A perfect start to the weekend.
Have a good week.
Love

Aww, the poor goose! I can see what you mean about his wing, a shame he’s shunned by the other geese, glad he gets a lot of your bread though. I loved the vision of Harry knocking birds out whilst lobbing rolls at them! Sounds like you are all feeling much better and enjoying the outdoors again!
Thanks so much for linking up to #Whatevertheweather :) x

Evie hasn’t quite got the concept of throwing small pieces of bread yet either haha. She also doesn’t like to share the bread with the ducks very much. I love that your ducks are fussy, ours don’t mind what you throw them. That poor, poor goose. I feel so sorry for it too. I’m glad you give it a good amount of food. It sounds like you had a really lovely, much needed walk. I’m glad you’re all better now! Thank you so much for linking your adventures to #whatevertheweather x

I feel sorry for your favourite goose now, even though usually I don’t like Canada geese, but to be left when his friends fly away sounds so sad. Big chunks of bread deserved! I’m glad you are all bug free and found a chance to grab some family time outdoors. Thank you for sharing with me on #CountryKids

What a lovely day!! We love feeding the ducks too. There is a canal or something like near my parent’s in love house where it has lots of ducks and Bella always ask to go there with grandma. So they bring lots of bread cramps and the ducks are all in line for that!! Harry is growing so much. I can see the difference from the photos you showed us when you inked up for the first time last year!! It is amazing!! He is so cute!! Lovely photos!! Thanks so much for sharing this at #KCACOLS. I would love to see you again on Sunday! :-) x

That sounds so great, feeding the ducks is one of the things I remember enjoying when I was little and regret the fact we have no opportunity to do that here with my little one. I’m sure she’d love it. #kcacols
